Leading Financial Institutions Sign Up for Surcharge-Free Access at 24,000 ATMs Nationwide
Bethesda, MD, July 23, 2003 — Allpoint, America's largest surcharge-free ATM network, today announced that it has signed twelve new customers, including one of the nation's largest credit unions, SEFCU (Albany, NY). Other credit union and community bank customers include Telhio Credit Union (Columbus, OH), Meadows Credit Union (Arlington Heights, IL), AFL-CIO Employees Federal Credit Union (Washington, DC), Interchange Federal Credit Union (LaVergne, TN) and Madison Square FSB (Baltimore, MD).
"Our ability to sign-up some of the industry's most innovative and respected financial institutions points to the strong value proposition Allpoint offers to its customers. We are clearly differentiating ourselves from the rest of the surcharge-free marketplace," said Ben Psillas, President. "The key differences between Allpoint and other surcharge-free networks are size, density and the quality of our ATM locations. With 24,000 surcharge-free ATMs nationwide, Allpoint is America's largest surcharge-free ATM network, providing coverage in all 50 states and ATMs conveniently located within major national and regional retail locations coast to coast".
"Our goal of providing SEFCU members with superior service and convenient access to their funds extends beyond our branch locations," said Michael J. Castellana, SEFCU's chief operating and financial officer. "Our partnership with Allpoint allows us to give our credit union owners the convenience of surcharge-free ATMs around town and across the country...at a cost that makes good sense for us as a financial cooperative."
Allpoint also announced that it has received approximately $1.1 million in additional funding from several prominent Washington D.C. and Baltimore-area investors. Capital raised in this third and final round will be used to further expand customer acquisition programs, marketing and promotions activity, and network operations.
Allpoint was launched in April 2003 to provide financial institutions having limited ATM presence with the tools to compete more effectively for customers. Participation in Allpoint offers card issuers access to a nationwide physical distribution channel at a fraction of the cost of building and maintaining their own network. Unlike other shared surcharge-free networks, Allpoint members join as card issuers only. E*Trade and CardTronics, two of the nation's largest ATM owners and operators, contribute their more than 24,000 ATMs to the network.
Psillas added, "Each of our customers has chosen Allpoint after intensive reviews of all available options for providing their customers with convenient surcharge-free ATM access, and the fact that they have chosen Allpoint speaks for itself."
To help Allpoint users find the nearest surcharge-free ATM, Allpoint provides a user-friendly ATM locator on its web site at www.AllpointNetwork.com.
