Over 23,000 Locations Nationwide To Serve Customers of Financial Institutions With Limited ATM Presence
Pentagon Federal Credit Union First To Offer Allpoint Service To Its Members
Washington, D.C., April 2, 2003 — ATM National, Inc. today announced the launch of the Allpoint™ surcharge-free ATM network. Allpoint allows credit unions, community banks, Internet banks, brokerage firms, insurance companies, payroll companies, and other financial institutions to provide their customers with surcharge-free access to more than 23,000 ATMs nationwide.
Allpoint is the first new national ATM network launched in over 20 years and will begin serving consumers today. Pentagon Federal Credit Union, with more than 500,000 members, is among the first to offer this service. Other notable customers include Skylight Financial, a leading provider of checkless bank accounts headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, and OBA Bank, a Washington, DC metro area community bank.
"We have received a tremendous response in the marketplace from card issuers of all sizes who recognize that nationwide surcharge-free ATM access is a necessary component of successfully executing a retail banking strategy," stated Ben Psillas, President of Allpoint. "Allpoint provides consumers with unmatched convenience and savings. Because consumers continue to rank convenience of physical access as their primary reason to join or leave an institution, joining Allpoint enables our customers to level the playing field and attract and retain more customers."
Psillas added, "Allpoint fills a strategic void in the ATM network marketplace, as it is the first network to bring together all the key success criteria - nationwide density and scale, open participation for all types of card issuers, and conveniently located ATMs at major national and regional retailer locations."
Participation in Allpoint offers card issuers access to a nationwide physical distribution channel at a fraction of the cost of building and maintaining their own network. In addition, Allpoint features a unique national flat rate plan, which eliminates the numerous fees typically charged by other networks. Under this plan, card-issuers pay a flat monthly fee to provide their customers with unlimited surcharge-free access to Allpoint's 23,000 ATMs.
Unlike other networks, Allpoint does not require its card issuers' ATMs to participate in the network and does not require any new investment in technology or card re-issuance. For the customer, the card in their wallet today will save them money tomorrow. To help Allpoint users find the nearest surcharge-free ATM, Allpoint provides a user-friendly ATM locator on its web site at www.AllpointNetwork.com.
Pentagon Federal Credit Union, with more than 500,000 members, will be among the first to utilize the new service. "With Allpoint, we can increase our checking account penetration by offering our members convenient, surcharge-free access at recognizable brand name retailers throughout the United States, and all this without the investments in infrastructure and technology. Given that our members are highly mobile, living in cities across the country, Pentagon Federal requires a partner that could meet these needs - Allpoint does," stated Frank Pollack, President and CEO of Pentagon Federal Credit Union.
Skylight Financial, Inc., also an early adopter, has account holders employed by 64 of the Fortune 100 companies. "Because our customer base is dependent on the ATM and POS networks, the ability to augment our existing surcharge-free network with Allpoint's 23,000 ATMs is very powerful," stated O.G. Greene, Chairman and CEO of Skylight. "Allpoint adds surcharge-free access in incremental markets which makes our product offerings more attractive to corporations and consumers alike."
Allpoint has established long-term partnerships with some of the largest and most proven players in the industry, such as Fiserv EFT/CNS, E*TRADE Access and Cardtronics. Allpoint's network of 23,000 ATMs are comprised of E*TRADE and Cardtronics ATMs, two of the largest independent ATM owners and service providers in the country. "Our partnership with Allpoint gives us the opportunity to deliver additional value to our customers by finding new and creative ways of increasing their ATM transactions," said Jack Antonini, CEO of Cardtronics. "We are actively looking for ways to leverage the size of our ATM network and drive foot traffic to our customerÔs locations."
Fiserv EFT/CNS provides turnkey back-office processing services as well as other strategic support. Tony Catalfano, President of Fiserv EFT/CNS, stated, "Allpoint offers a powerful value proposition for the thousands of financial institutions who understand the power the ATM channel plays in attracting and retaining customers. Based on our experience in the credit union and community bank markets, we know there is a strong demand for a nationwide branded surcharge-free ATM network. We look forward to leveraging our processing platform and actively marketing Allpoint to our 3,000 customers in the United States."
