Facebook, MySpace and Twitter can help you reach Generation Y.
Generation Y is a term used to describe the demographic group following Generation X. The rise of instant communication technologies made possible through use of the internet, such as email, texting, and IM and new media used through websites like YouTube and social networking sites, helps explain Generation Y's reputation for being peer-oriented and for seeking instant gratification. This trend of communication is continuing into Generation Z.
Generation Y is a group of at least 70 million people. To reach out to them, you can use free social networking websites such as MySpace, Facebook and Twitter. These websites can be used to give status updates on items such as branch openings, new products and services, events, promotions, special offers, and anything else that could interest a current or potential cardholder. Since Generation Y is already familiar with these websites and groups, they will be able to relate to your page.
You would want to put a blurb in many areas of your website directing current and potential cardholders to your new pages on MySpace and/or Facebook and/or Twitter so they are aware and can follow you. The blurb would be useful not only on your homepage, but throughout other areas of your website such as Products & Services, Benefits, Contact Us, etc.
